Spirit: Conversations with Creative Women is the first book by Jannine Wilkinson and Ann Orman and beautifully showcases thirty-four New Zealand women creatives through stunning images and stories of passion, dedication and inspiration. For over three years Jannine and Ann researched, interviewed, photographed and wrote the stories of these creative people as a celebration of their work, and struggles to make a living from their passion. These women have opened their homes, workspaces and hearts and shared deeply intimate accounts of their personal challenges and determination to follow their instincts to create.

Join us to celebrate and learn about the journey Ann and Jannine went on to create this beautiful book, and their learnings along the way.

Ann Orman

Ann has been a photographer for over 20 years, firstly creating fine art images for exhibitions, then moving to commercial work for the last 12 years. Her passions are lifestyle and people, and travel photography, in-particular capturing artisans in both Aotearoa and the Asia/Pacific basin. Some of the women in this book she has known for over 20 years and really wanted to celebrate them. It is the first in a series of books she is currently working on.

Jannine Wilkinson

Jannine has had a passion for books and words since childhood and has dabbled in writing on and off. She also has a rather nerdy fascination for the pencil, both in terms of the history behind this simple device and adding to her ever-expanding collection (especially the famous Blackwing pencil). Having the responsibility of researching, interviewing and showcasing the life stories of thirty four creative women has provided her with an incredible creative outlet for this passion, and the realization of a lifelong achievement to write a book.
