He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Hawkins Theatre is a 300 seat capacity community theatre & cinema in Papakura. It hosts a variety of community, professional & touring events throughout the year, as well as regular film screenings with some of the latest releases on the cinema circuit.

The venue is on the lookout for an Event Manager to be a senior representative on-site primarily on evenings and weekends. You will be fully responsible for the timely and professional delivery of all aspects of facilities services including front of house including basic technical setups, overseeing the bar/café operation and operational management of events.

This is not a 'behind the scenes' role, you will be an integral part of our theatre team, understanding the logistics and set up required.  You will need to be hands-on, open to learning new skills and be willing to jump in & assist the team in providing customer service to the highest standard. 

He kōrero mōu: About you
You will primarily take responsibility for the on-the-day event delivery & management in Hawkins Theatre including front of house management, basic technical assistance with sound & lighting, and overseeing the bar/café operation, so a background of theatre /cinema, event or leisure management is essential. To succeed in this role, you will need a professional and approachable manner with impeccable customer service skills. You will be able to think on your feet, be creative and problem solve in a pressured environment.

You will also have 2 years+ experience as a Senior Supervisor role or 1 years+ in a managerial role. A proven ability to lead, manage, motivate, and develop staff, impeccable customer service skills and experience. Furthermore, the right applicant will possess the ability to think outside the square, challenge the way things are done, propose suggestions for improvement and demonstrated understanding of the cultural diversity within New Zealand.

You would also be engaging and foster positive working relationships with all cultural groups, have strong interpersonal skills as you will work closely with Casual Ushers, Security and Contractors.
Please note flexibilty to work shift hours is esseintial as we operate evenings, early mornings, late finishes mainly in weekends, and occasionally public holidays.
